About Rocky Top Appaloosas
Who we are
Rocky Top Appaloosas is owned and operated by Bill & Jeanette Cook of New Salem, North Dakota. With over 26 years in the horse breeding and showing business, Rocky Top Appaloosas has a proven history of producing good minded Appaloosas and Quarter Horses with superior movement, athletic ability, and desirable conformation. Our horses are versatile with a demonstrated record of success in Western Pleasure, English Pleasure, longe line, trail, halter, showmanship, dressage, pleasure driving, equitation, and even roping. Our horses are also are content to transition outdoors to the trails making dependable family horses for years of enjoyment outside the show pen. We have returned to the enjoyment of trail riding in the Badlands, Black Hills, and riding with the local teamsters on Wagon Trains.
Memberships:
- We are active members of the North Dakota Appaloosa Horse Club and are committed to the promotion of the Appaloosa horse.
- We are proud to be charter members of the Dakota 50/50 futurity and sale, where our foals have been offered for sale each year, and many have returned as 2 year olds to show as serious competitors. Zips Country Princess winner of 2005 Futurity and Zips Country Gentleman Reserve Champion in 2008.
- Our stallions are nominated to the Red River Valley Select Sire Futurity, and we have been very proud and excited to watch horses bred in our program showing and doing well in this futurity over the years. We were honored to receive the 2005 Horseman and Horsewoman of the Year from the Red River Valley Horse Breeders.
